Pasta Information
Tortelloni: 7-9pcs/250g or 32/34 pcs/1kg depending on the filling.
Ravioli: 17-20pcs/250g or 70/80 pcs/1kg depending on the filling
It all depends if the pasta is served as a starter or as a main and how hungry you are. Usually, we recommend 125-200g portion as a starter: 250g serves 1-2, 500g= serves 3-4, 1kg= serves 6-8. You can double the servings if you are using the pasta as a main.
For those residing in central London, we aim to provide you with pasta with a shelf life of 5 days.
Outside central London, encompassing the rest of the UK, we aim to offer plain pasta with a shelf life of 8 days, filled pasta with a shelf life of 14 days, and butter and sauces with a shelf life of 10 days.
Once opened, if you don’t consume the full tray of pasta, wrap it with cling film and keep refrigerated below 5C. Once opened, consume the pasta within 3 days.
All our pasta is perfect for Freezing (except gluten free gnocchi) and it freezes beautifully. The pasta is at its best within the first few days. Therefore, if you are planning to freeze some pasta, we recommend freezing it as soon as possible. If you are freezing long shapes, please divide the pasta into individual portions and ideally ‘nest’ your pasta (Otherwise you will have a very large ‘block’ of pasta!) Frozen pasta needs to be consumed within 1-2 months. You will also have to add an extra minute of cook time when cooking from frozen.
Cook the pasta without defrosting it. Follow the same procedure as cooking the pasta from fresh. Just boil it for 1-2 more minutes.
Keep refrigerated below 5C or freeze in the first 2 days if you are going to save for later.
Follow the cooking instructions on the packaging. As a general guideline: – bring 2 litres of well salted water to a rolling boil in a large pot. (You will need 2 litres for every 250g of pasta).Add the pasta and cook for 3-4 minutes for fresh pasta, or 4 – 5 minutes for frozen and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
From our experience, all kids love plain pasta as it can be combined with their favourite sauce. We recommend the smaller shapes such as mini macaroni or long pasta such as pappardelle for younger kids. From the feedback we’ve had over the years from our young customers – they love our filled pasta too: Spinach & Ricotta, Italian Sausage, Beef and Pumpkin. And the parents love getting the extra serving of protein or vegetables in one go! It is all about your kid’s taste – thankfully we have many options to choose from!
Plain pasta can be served with any sauce (tomato, pesto, artichoke&truffle, butter&sage) and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Our filled pasta has plenty of taste in the filling so we recommend combining it with one of our flavoured butters and parmesan cheese on top. However, it’s really up to you. We’ve tried to provide you with some serving suggestions and images on the website to give you ideas: eg. we suggest serving Ravioli Pumpkin with Butter & Sage sauce and Parmesan; while we suggest combining Tortelloni Black Truffle pasta with Truffle Butter and Parmesan. Check out our recipe section where we’ve gotten our favourite chefs to show you their favourite family recipes!
